I want to thank all the people I worked together with on the projects in this reel, as well as projects outside of it. I have been truly lucky to be able to work with friendly and talented people that have taught me tons. You know who you are and I hope to work with you again!

    Thank you for watching!

Twig Boy - part 1

It's hard to say where Twig Boy lives because he's known to walk around quite a bit, but he seems to like the border between forest and non-forest. Sometimes however he just stands still, listening and thinking. Or maybe he's just standing, waiting for the right moment to walk again. Who knows. An exercise in design, illustration and cell animation in Photoshop and After Effects. Most of it was animated frame by frame in Photoshop (creating loops where/whenever possible) in 12 fps. Camera moves, paths of leafs and simple compositing done in After Effects.

Audi - Vorsprung durch Technik

"Only few car-brands deliver what their claims promise. Audi's perfect technology convinces by an uncompromising art of engineering and incessant innovation drive. Nothing more and nothing less we aimed to illustrate, pure and straight, while creating the design concept, directing and post-producing this internet image film."

                    - Sehsucht Hamburg.

Done at Sehsucht Hamburg.

Worked on this one during a two month period, from start to finish. I started out doing simple matte paintings on scout located sets, the purpose of this being to illustrate what could be done to enhance the set.

Most of my time went into exploring and designing the look of the 2D elements, like the slide images, UI and what we internally decided to call 'digital dust' (the subtle graphics surrounding the actor), and how the actor would interact with these.

I also animated many of the UIs and 2D elements (some not shown in this cut down version).

  • Design (styleframes, 2D elements, UI)
  • Animation (UI, data graphics)

Kinect. Dance.

We undertook this experiment to explore the visual aesthetics made possible by emerging technologies such as 3D depth cameras and code-processed video.

Using a hardware / software workflow pioneered by creative coder James George, coupled with custom code developed by Superfad, we captured 3D depth data using the Microsoft Kinect, and coupled it with high definition video of a dancer (Emily Bass) from the DSLR. This process allowed us to record footage from a single camera position, and move through that footage in 3D space post-capture, with no degradation in quality regardless of zoom on the subject. Using the RGBD Toolkit, along with the point-cloud processing abilities of the Plexus plugin for AfterEffects, we applied various visual treatments to this captured footage to compile the final project.

The Owl

Personal project in 2D animation.
It started as a pen and paper sketch but I decided to fully create it and animate it. Since I had time I decided to break it down to as many pieces as possible and keyframe everything. It's such a great feeling to dive into your craft, work hard for a limited period of time and make it to the other side!

Resonance: Evanescent

This is one of 20 short abstract animations done for the RESONANCE collaboration which premiered at this years OFF festival in Barcelona.

I worked on this, together with Aras Darmawan and Martin Aggerholm, which is Tronic Studios contribution to the collaboration, the birth and death of a butterfly (if you’d challange me to describe it).

Steadfast

Project done at Tronic. Styleframes, design, animation (0:20 - 0:39)

2011.

2thousand11

A personal project that has taken a couple of different shapes before landing in this simple form. Containing footage that I've been collecting over the year, mostly through an airplane window. All the footage, except of the person, is recorded with the iPhone 4. Thank you for watching.
